Very easy sudoku

0:00

Very easy puzzles are the gentlest way into sudoku. Each one gives you 46 numbers to start, so every empty square can be worked out from its row, column and box. There is no guessing and no need for notes.

How to solve one

Pick an empty square. Look along its row, down its column and around its box, and list the numbers already there. If eight different numbers are already used, the ninth is your answer. Then look at the squares next to the one you just filled: the next answer is often right beside it.

New to the rules? Our guide to the basics takes two minutes. Ready for a little more? Try Easy, then scanning and cross-hatching.
